Why not come and stay at Railway Retreats. We have a converted MK1 railway carriage that sleeps up to six, a stunning GWR 'TOAD' Brake van with track facing veranda, and an additional two goods wagons, each sleeping up to four people, all with en-suite facilities.
Located on the beautiful Kent and East Sussex border in Northiam, the carriages provide a fantastic base for you to explore the local countryside and coast, with attractions and activities to suit everyone.
The carriages are situated within Northiam Steam Railway Station, a working station on the Kent and East Sussex steam railway line. You don't even need to leave the carriages to get the full railway experience as the steam trains will pull up at the station just 20 ft away!
The MK1 carriage sleeps up to 6 people with 1 family bathroom, 1 en-suite bathroom, a fully functional kitchen, two double bedrooms, a bunk room for kids and an open plan lounge/dining area. We also have the added extra of an elevated glass balcony giving you the opportunity to get the best view of the station, railway line, surrounding countryside and the beautiful sunsets we get in Northiam.
The GWR 'TOAD' sleeps two with its own en-suite shower room. 'TOAD' faces directly on to the station platform and is perfect for relaxing on the veranda, either watching the steam trains roll by during the day or soaking up the beautiful sunsets we experience here at Northiam.
Both goods wagons have en-suite shower rooms and can accommodate up to four people each. Guests can choose to stay in either 1930's ICI Salt Van or a 1940's Royal Ordinance Factories ammunition transportation wagon.
