BR MK1 Carriage
The arrival of the MK1 RBR was a bit of a squeeze, but Reid Freight managed it.
Two rotators were used to lift the carriage onto the track. The overhead power lines made the lift challenging!
After 8 hours, the carriage was in place!
The bar area before the interior re-fit.
After being stripped, the carriage revealed how detailed the craftsmanship was when these carriages were built back in the 1960's.
The cold store, that is now the master bedroom.

Railway Retreats is the proud owner of a M1972 carriage, originally built in 1962 in Ashford/Swindon. Designed and built for British Rail, it was used as main line stock until it was stored at Marston in 2003, before moving to Gloucester Warwickshire Railway to be used as an Upholstery workshop at Winchcombe. We then purchased the carriage some years later when it needed a full restoration to bring it back to its former glory. We have a full photos library at the carriage with more details and photos of the restoration journey.
